The only missable side quest
The Choir is available only during Chapter X, Shackled, inside Napoleon’s Prison, and starts with the note Prison Warden’s Journal, Part One. Once you leave the prison you cannot return, so read every note there. PowerPyx says it rewards a consumable and is not needed for any trophy or achievement.
Mummy and Daddy in the City of Orphans sewers fails immediately if you shoot the undead in the cell, so treat that one with care too.
Quests with two endings
MetaBot’s data marks An Unheard Farewell, Sleeping Beauty, The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory, Laudanum, Bedtime Stories, Misericorde and Mummy and Daddy as having two outcomes. In several of them your choice changes the Amber or Catalyst reward. Seamus Diggory, for example, pays between 1,000 and 3,000 Catalysts plus a Ferrofluid Flask upgrade depending on the outcome.
Quests tied to achievements and the Mice
The Oathbound, Laudanum, Monster Hunt and The Deserter each feed an achievement, and Monster Hunt is the longest at nineteen steps. The Shrike’s Anthem, Afraid of the Dark, Bedtime Stories and Mummy and Daddy raise your standing with the Mice, which MetaBot says needs to reach ten before Napoleon’s Prison.
The October 16 First Update also fixed a bug that could stop In the Name of Art from starting or progressing in the Vale of Wrath.
Where to start the early quests
The Oathbound begins when you defeat your first Eternal Guard duellist, with the first emblem near the Battlefield’s Onslaught Arch Lantern. An Unheard Farewell starts at the Valley of Ashes Guidepost, and The Emissary at The Other Side, though it cannot be finished until you have the Shield power. The Scarecrow starts at the Fallen Village Fields Lantern, and Homesick at Last Sunlight in the Caverns.
