1. Talk to the officer and follow the chapter route
Near the Guidepost lantern, listen for the officer calling from a carriage after the first Grenadier encounter. Accept his request before moving on. The initial cave investigation progresses as you follow the main route; the survivor search needs a later return to the lift area.
2. Revisit the lift and burn the hidden wall
After opening the later lift route, ride back toward the middle landing near The Climb. Look opposite the path used earlier for the golden growth blocking a passage. Burn it away and enter the concealed area to confront the scout, who has become a miniboss.
3. Read the letter and report back
After the fight, read the nearby letter to update the investigation. Continue through the area and open the ladder shortcut that takes you back toward the officer. Speak to him again to deliver the report; winning the miniboss fight alone does not complete the hand-in.
Truth or lie: compare the reported rewards
Sleight of Hand Amber is the shared reward and improves firearm reload and weapon switching. Game Devourer lists Epic Catalyst Clot for telling the truth and Remnant’s Return for lying. PowerPyx also notes a Catalyst Clot pickup after resting near the carriage, so check the ground after the conversation rather than treating every bonus as an immediate dialogue payout.
